Since 1975, Collimated Holes has produced glass optical fibers in small and large quantities for specialized applications. We draw from a wide inventory of glasses—including patented terbium-doped scintillating glass—to minimize lead times and maximize engineering flexibility. By stacking fibers into multi-fibers, we manufacture light guides, multi-fiber image conduits, Fiber Optic Faceplates, image remapping devices, and fiber arrays. Extra Mural Absorption glass can be added to reduce light leakage and fiber cross-talk.

Fiber Optic Faceplates
A Fiber Optic Faceplate is a coherent multi-fiber plate that transfers an image from the input surface to the output surface with high spatial fidelity. Faceplates act optically like a zero-thickness window while providing mechanical and dielectric interface advantages for detectors and vacuum systems.
Image Conduits
Image conduits route coherent fiber bundles to relocate or reformat an image plane—useful when detectors, illumination, or mechanical envelopes cannot share the same optical axis.
Extra Mural Absorption
Extra Mural Absorption (EMA) refers to dark absorbing glass placed in the fiber matrix to capture stray photons that escape individual fiber cores. This significantly reduces fiber cross-talk and improves contrast in imaging structures.
Numerical Aperture
Numerical Aperture (N.A.) governs the acceptance cone of each fiber. We engineer Numerical Aperture alongside fiber diameter and Extra Mural Absorption to match illumination, collection, and display requirements.
