Built Around Difficult Applications
CHI was established in 1974 around the idea that large, precise structures of parallel glass channels could solve problems that conventional optical and mechanical components could not. That foundation expanded into in-house glass drawing, coherent fused-fiber products, specialty glass combinations, scintillating materials, and precision optical finishing.
The company’s work remains primarily custom. CHI collaborates with customers to define a component that fits the application rather than steering every problem toward a catalog item. In-House Fiber and Capillary Manufacturing
CHI manufactures its own glass fibers from preforms. Drawing in-house provides direct control over dimensions, geometry, and glass combinations and creates the building blocks for capillary arrays, multi-fibers, image conduits, faceplates, remapping devices, and fiber-optic scintillators.
The same process knowledge supports nontraditional products such as transparent glass sieves, microchannel structures, specialty rods and tubes, precision glass components, and bulk scintillating plates.
